The Houyhnhnms – Since Gulliver’s Travels

In one of the best-selling adventure book “Gulliver’s Travels” we saw how Gulliver (main character of Gulliver’s Travels) was attracted to Houyhnhnms species. Houyhnhnms is an equine race of intelligent horses. Gulliver described this species in an idyllic way “the behavior of these animals was orderly and rational, acute and judicious”, whereas the author, Jonathan Swift describes Houyhnhnms as “perfection of nature”.

Houyhnhnms rescued Gulliver from Yahoos, an animal like human who were the evils in the story. Houyhnhnms always lived right and acted accordingly, they are so perfect to fit in a society and Gulliver always enamored this species. Houyhnhnms had their own land where Gulliver learned their language within three months. Gulliver was able to answer their questions and tell them how he managed to enter their shore.

Gulliver always tried to escape his own species in this entire story leaving his wife and three children. According to him, humans were worse than Yahoos and so was this thought for the Houyhnhnms. When he started living with the Houyhnhnms, he was so in love with this species that he even started acting and behaving like them. Finding these characters interesting? Questsky has many more such characters that you would love to read.

Unfortunately, there came a day in Gulliver’s life where he was forced to leave the land of Houyhnhnms which left him broken hearted. You can read more adventure stories like Gulliver’s Travels on Questsky and get adventure in your life.
